Receiving First Eucharist is a two-year preparation process, typically beginning in first grade and culminating with the Sacrament in the spring of second grade.
Since the family is the heart of faith in our Domestic Church (our homes), preparation takes place through our Family Faith Formation program. By registering, families commit to attending monthly meetings and completing Family Faith Packets to guide their child’s sacramental preparation.
Year 1 (typically 1st grade): Children receive a workbook to complete and return in the Spring of their first year of Sacrament Prep.
Year 2 (typically 2nd grade): Children who have completed Year 1 are ready for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Families continue in Family Faith Formation and receive additional sacramental preparation materials. This includes a blended format of at-home lessons and in-person workshops.
Participation in both Family Faith Formation and Sacramental Preparation is required.
For older children who have not yet received their First Reconciliation and/or Holy Communion, or for additional information about sacrament preparation for youth, please contact Denise Gilbert.
