The Anointing of the Sick is a sacrament that uses the Oil of the Sick, blessed by the bishop during Holy Week. Contrary to popular belief, it is not only for those who are dying. It provides special graces for the soul, helping anyone facing illness or the challenges of old age.
The special grace of the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick offers:
Union with Christ’s suffering for the good of the person and the Church
Strength, peace, and courage to endure illness or aging in a Christian way
Forgiveness of sins, if the person cannot receive the Sacrament of Penance
Restoration of health, if it benefits the salvation of the soul
Preparation for eternal life
The Anointing of the Sick is a gift of God’s grace to sustain and heal, both spiritually and physically.
Please contact the church office so that arrangements can be made for Anointing of the Sick.
