Whether you choose to celebrate your wedding at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish or elsewhere, we encourage couples to begin preparations at least nine months to a year prior to your desired wedding date to complete the required coursework and paperwork.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS to Marry in the Catholic Church

• Either the bride or groom (or both) must be Catholic
• Both parties must be free to marry in the Catholic Church
• One or both parties are registered, active, and participating members of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton

AbOUT The Process

A couple may seek marriage at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton if they are recently engaged or already civilly married outside of the Catholic Church and now wish to receive the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony in the Catholic Church.

Our Marriage Preparation will accompany couples in preparing to be married through a step-by-step process that includes: 

• Guidance through critical decision and preparation steps
• Marriage preparation for leading an enriched married life, guided by one of our sponsor couples
• Complete the Natural Family Planning course through the Diocese of Dallas
• Collection of information and establishing that both parties are free to marry
• Meeting with a priest or deacon
• Liturgy planning with our Worship staff and team of wedding coordinators
• Rehearsal and celebration of the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony at our parish
• Post-wedding opportunities for the couple to grow together at our parish
