Louis Berdon Jr. was born September 22, 1934, in Ruston Louisiana to Edward Louis Berdon Sr. and Nita Babin Berdon. He had two sisters Faith and Madeline. Louis passed away on January 13th from natural causes. He was 90 years old. Louis met his wife Katherine Joline Lynch (Kay) while attending Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge during the 1950s while he was studying Petroleum Geology. There he was also on a music scholarship as an accomplished oboist.
After graduation, he worked in the Texas Petroleum Industry and started a family with Kay. He moved his family to Alaska and had a successful career for over 2 decades as a pioneer in the oil business finishing his career in Texas. He was an avid golfer and did well in tournaments. As an oboist, he played in seven different symphonies as a first chair and was highly appreciative of all classical composers and enjoyed listening to their music.
He was a kind and loving family man, proud but also full of humility. He set a good example for his children and was always ready to play catch with his sons or attend his daughter’s dance performances. He was also a very generous man, donating regularly to non-profit organizations and to the Catholic Church of which he was a devoted member since childhood. A strong man of faith and devotion who will be missed.
Louis was predeceased in passing by his middle son Greg and is survived by his wife Kay, 2 sons Eddie, Lee, daughter Melanie and 5 grandchildren. Eddie (wife Terri, children Eddie and Andrew) Lee (wife Dana, children Ashten and Brennan) Melanie (son Frank)
